Henry Wagons is a renowned artistic force: a songwriter, baritone, troubadour, broadcaster, storyteller and wildly entertaining live performer whose work spans outlaw country, alt-folk, psychedelia, rock ’n’ roll and an ever-growing vine of twisted tales that weave within.

Over more than two decades, Henry has carved out a singular career across every aspect of music and entertainment and is very much at the peak of his powers. First emerging as the frontman of alt-country outfit Wagons, he forged his career through relentless touring, acclaimed albums, and sweat- and tear-filled live shows that balanced chaos, craft, dark humour and heart. Across 12 albums spanning both band and solo releases, Henry has built a body of work that is literate, melodic and cinematic, while collaborating with artists including Alison Mosshart (The Kills, The Dead Weather), Robert Forster (The Go-Betweens), Mr Hudson and many more.

Whether fronting a full band or commanding a theatre stage alone with little more than a guitar and that unmistakable voice, Henry possesses a rare ability to hold a room completely captive. His performances move fluidly between concert, conversation and late-night confessional: tender one moment, hilariously unhinged the next.

Alongside his solo career, Henry continues to tour internationally and has performed throughout Australia, New Zealand, Canada, United Kingdom, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Netherlands, Switzerland, Mexico, United States and Vietnam. He has appeared at major festivals including Bonnaroo, SXSW, AmericanaFest, Vancouver Folk Music Festival, Ottawa Bluesfest, Take Root Festival and Bumbershoot, among many others, while also sharing stages and touring alongside artists including Justin Townes Earle, Lucinda Williams and The Dead South.

Away from the stage, Henry is a recognisable and respected music broadcaster. As the long-time host and founder of Double J’s “Tower of Song”, he curates a rich weekly journey through Americana, folk, country and roots music, interviewing artists from around the globe while championing emerging local voices.

Named one of The Age Melbourne Magazine’s “Top 100 Most Influential Melburnians,” Henry Wagons continues to occupy a world uniquely his own: part scholar, part showman, part outlaw balladeer. A performer capable of turning a festival stage, theatre or radio studio into something intimate, unpredictable and deeply memorable. With album #13 currently in the works, Henry shows no signs of slowing down and, in many ways, he is only just getting started.
